Default "Repairing Data Archive" is happening too much

ok, now it happened maybe once last year, but now it's happening weekly.

I've run Prime95 24hour stable tests on my overclocked rig and ran memtests on my RAM and my S.M.A.R.T. indicators on my HDDs are at 97% performance/fitness...

I'm certain it's NOT my hardware causing the files to go corrupt, which becomes VERY annoying cause the game redownloads the content. [yes 3+ gigs worth]

What happens with this if it's not hardware problems? [checking the Guild Wars website said it'd be ram or hard drive issues but after running a battery of tests it most certainly is NOT]

Anyone know how to avoid this? [do you log out in a special manner maybe? I get errors when I log out now for some reason] I hit the "x" in the corner of the screen and close the game that way...

Have you tried defragging the gw.dat via the Contig program to see if that helps any?

How to do it if you don't already know.

I wonder what's going on..

I deleted the gw.dat file and even the gw.exe file and simply re-ran the downloadable client

uninstall the client via add/remove

go to ccleaner.com and download it in all its amazingness

run it, clean and registry scan, remove all items it finds.

Reboot

Reinstall one last time

post back

Stop recommending contig for cases like this, fragmentation will NOT make the filesystem any less reliable unless it has a serious design flaw (or the hardware's broken).

Try running chkdsk to check the file system's integrity. If it finds a lot of errors you may have a broken hard drive or other hardware. There's many more points of failure than S.M.A.R.T. keeps track of.

I suspect corruption in the gw.dat file.
Also run the -image switch to make sure it downloads 100%.
Then run contig to defrag it.
